Dirk Braeckman (B)

Dirk Braeckman (b. 1958 / Ghent, lives in Ghent), photographer, studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Ghent. He has become known to a broader public because of his photographic portraits of the Belgian royal couple. He has had one-man shows at Stichting De Pont in Tilburg (2004), Espace Vox in Montréal (2003), Galerie Bernier / Eliades in Athens (2002), SMAK in Ghent (2001), Galerie Zeno X in Antwerp (2001), Galerie Le Réverbère 2 in Lyon (2000), Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens in Deurle (1999) and Kunsthal Rotterdam (1999). He has taken part in such group exhibitions as 'Beaufort 2003' (Ostend, 2003), 'Paramount Basics extended' (MuHKA, Antwerp, 2002), 'Ici & maintenant' (Tour & Taxis, Brussels, 2001), 'Metro>Polis' (Brussels, Cultural Capital of Europe, 2000), 'Over the Edges' (SMAK and surroundings, Ghent, 2000) and 'La Consolation' (Les Magasins, Grenoble, 1999). The monographs 'z.Z(t)' (1998) and 'z.Z(t) volume II' (2001) were published by Ludion of Ghent and 'Chiaroscuro' (2003) by Toohcsmi of Ghent.
