Luc Deleu

Luc Deleu is an architect, visionary, orbanist (world planner) and artist. He graduated from St Luke's Higher Institute of Architecture in Brussels and established T.O.P. Office in 1970. Since then he has been active on the boundary between art and architecture. By providing critical, sociological and ecological alternatives and visions he contributes towards the debate on urban planning. In the seventies he focused on developing the concept of orbanism, which he illustrated with an Orbanist Manifesto, on thinking on a global scale. This Manifesto comprises well-founded but provocative and utopian-anarchistic proposals such as avenues of fruit trees, the abolition of traffic regulations and zoos, converting public monuments into social housing, replacing flower boxes with vegetable boxes, protecting weeds, etc. These proposals were presented collectively in 1978 in the exhibition entitledt the 'Proposal for the abolition of the law protecting the title and profession of architect'.
