Wilfried Huet

Wilfried Huet (b. 1940 Antwerp, Belgium) studied at the Higher National Institute for Fine Art in Antwerp. From 1981 to 1991 he organised the GA independent artists initiative in Waasmunster. With its one hundred and twenty-six exhibitions, talks, colloquia and so on, GA developed into one of the most important artistic projects in Belgium. As a GA sideline Huet also published the GA newssheet, all copies of which are now included in the 'Curating the Library' collection. In 1986, together with Leo Copers, Guillaume Bijl, Michel François, Ria Pacquee and Angel Vergara Santiago, he organised the 'Initiatief d'Amis' exhibition in the Vooruit in Ghent. Since 2000 he has been the initiator and publisher of the unique international artist's magazine 'GAGARIN, THE ARTISTS IN THEIR OWN WORDS'. Gagarin publishes only specially written and never previously published articles by artists at work today, anywhere in the world. They have so far included Juan Munoz, Liam Gillick, Roman Ondak, Lois Weinberger, Joe Scanlan, Miroslaw Balka, Ken Lum, Nedko Solakov, Sergei Bratkov, Lawrence Weiner, Vito Acconci, Giuseppe Penone, Stan Douglas, Anri Sala, Frédéric Bruly Bouabré, Jimmie Durham, Michelangelo Pistoletto and Joseph Grigely.
