Willem Oorebeek
Willem Oorebeek (b. 1953 / Pernis, Rotterdam, lives in Brussels), artist. He studied at the Academy of Art in Rotterdam, was a lecturer at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht and currently lectures at the Ateliers in Amsterdam and the Hochschule der Künste in Hamburg. He has shown his work in one-man shows at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam (1988, 1996), Witte De With in Rotterdam (1994), the Venice Biennale (Dutch Pavilion) (1997), Winnipeg Art Gallery in Canada (1998) and at group exhibitions including 'Les lilites de tableau' at the Musée Departement de Rochechouart in France (1995), 'Lost in Space' at the Kunstmuseum Luzern in Switzerland (1997), 'City Pity II' at the DAAD Galerie in Berlin (1999), 'Total Blackout totale' at the NICC in Antwerp (2000), 'Lost Past'in Ypres (2002) and 'Paramount Basics (extended)' at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Antwerp (2002).
