Architecten [resideren]
Resident 1 expo
Discover Architects [in residence] and explore new voices in architecture.
What, exactly, do architects do? That question lies at the heart of Architecten [resideren], a residency programme run by the VAi and DE SINGEL. Young architects complete the title each time with a verb that characterises their practice. Because architects not only design and build - they also research, write, photograph, and put issues on the agenda.
This programme gives young makers from Flanders and Brussels the space to develop their own position, and thus presents a plural picture of contemporary architectural practice.
Four residents work in overlapping periods from Kabinet Kieckens, a space devoted to Christian Kieckens’ library. They are offered guidance, time, and resources to deepen their practice. Each residency culminates in a public presentation and an installation in the foyer of DE SINGEL
