The Architecture Faculties at KU Leuven and HoGent-KASK want to create a social support structure for reducing the hard surfacing of open spaces.
They explore both the physical and the mental space for demolition. Everyone will be aware of some construction or another (a building, paving, etc.) in their local area whose demolition would benefit the open space and the landscape. And yet actually demolishing these structures often seems out of the question, and they remain as ‘hard clots in the space’. ‘Space for demolition’ presents the work of students and tutors about demolition with the aim of creating more open space and the discussion around this will doubtless be inspiring.
