Lezing Veronique Boone (ULB)
Ten huize van ... Léon Stynen
As part of Stynen 2018, Veronique Boone (ULB Faculty of Architecture) delivers a lecture about the role of architecture in the first decades of television. This was prompted by the VRT programme 'Ten huize van...' in which Joos Florquin interviews the architect Léon Stynen in 1982.
In the long history of the cultural programme 'Ten huize van…' only a single architect has been interviewed: Léon Stynen. In a public medium like television, architecture remained relatively invisible for a long time, which only serves to confirm Stynen’s significance as an architect. Stynen himself was already aware of the importance of communication with the general public and focused strongly on his own image creation and that of his oeuvre. Taking Stynen’s public image as a common thread, the lecture focuses on the question of how television shapes public opinion and knowledge of architecture.
After the lecture, you can watch the entire episode of 'Ten huize van....' with Léon Stynen in the starring role.
