For the second edition of Unfolding the Archives, the Flanders Architecture Institute draws on the oeuvre of Juliaan Lampens (1926 - 2019). Based on a selection of unique archive pieces, the exhibition offers a unique insight into the architect’s oeuvre. Lampens’ archive contains design sketches, composition sketches, exploratory drawings and architectural plans for completed and unbuilt projects, as well as full-scale architectural details. These working documents demonstrate the importance that Lampens attached to the craft of drawing and materialisation.
To accompany the exhibition, the Flanders Architecture Institute will be presenting the reissue of the catalogue ‘Juliaan Lampens. 1950 – 1991’ which was put together for the architect’s retrospective exhibition at in deSingel in 1991.
