In spring 2020, the Flanders Architecture Institute is focusing on the link between Japan and Flanders. 'RE-PRACTICE RE-VISIT RE-TURN' is the first exhibition of a season with the baseline ‘Back from Japan’. It showcases the design-based research of architects de vylder vinck tallieu in Tokyo: eleven Flemish projects were given a fresh meaning, as eleven Japanese mirror-images. The same methodology was applied to the global cities of London and Istanbul. The result is a series of ensembles that reinterpret architecture from Flanders in three different social and spatial contexts.
