Which books really touch important figures in the worlds of art, science, design, music, theatre, dance, literature and architecture? And what is it that makes a work so special to them? Every month a philosopher, artist, choreographer, architect, etc. talks about his or her choice. This personal story invites you to discover new books or to rediscover a work you already know. After their talk there is also an opportunity to engage the speaker in conversation in the performers' bar.
Each talk is recorded on DVD so that you can watch it after the event. The DVDs are available for perusal in the Curating the Library cube in the corridor next to the Blue Hall. There is also a wide selection of books. Since the start of the series, in March 2003, about a thousand books have been collected by more than eighty speakers. More than fifty hours of their talks have been recorded on DVD.
The library comprises a wide selection of books including 'Historia de la eternidad' by Jorge Luis Borges, 'The Universe in a Nutshell' by Stephen Hawking, 'De Kapellekensbaan' by Louis Paul Boon, 'The New Industrial Parks near Irvine' by Lewis Baltz, John Cage's 'Silence' and 'Jazz' by Henri Matisse.
