Music and dance have been harmoniously linked since time immemorial. Tournament questions this relationship with a competitive game between dancers, musicians and the stage space. The performance is a collaboration between the Soloistensemble Kaleidoscop, choreographer Adam Linder and composer Ethan Braun. The makers share both a classical education and a desire to break with the traditions of their disciplines.
In Tournament, the stage becomes a playing field on which the physicality, creativity and dedication of both the individual performers and the group is tested. How can one help the other move forward? How is one obliged to lean on the other? Which of the two is compelling? And can this competitiveness also be a metaphor for other types of political and social relations where two partners are forced to work together?
