Alain Platel & Steven Prengels - les ballets C de la B

The latest creation by Alain Platel and the composer Steven Prengels begins with the life and work of the Viennese composer Gustav Mahler. However, it is not only Mahler’s music, but also the exciting cultural and political context that stirs their curiosity. How does his music express the complexity of Europe in 1900? How does art manage to capture this turbulent period?
They draw their musical inspiration from both Mahler's Lieder and the polyphonic tradition of two Congolese performers. In addition, Alain Platel also enters into an alliance with the visual art of Berlinde De Bruyckere, who is responsible for the stage design.
