The Jaguar And The Snake
“Art can be a kind of magic. I believe in its transformative power”, says the Mexican-Chilean choreographer Amanda Piña. Her performances are like rituals, in which the connectedness and energy between herself, her performers and the audience are essential. deSingel is co-producing the third part of her project ‘Endangered Human Movements’, about dance traditions that are threatened with extinction. For ‘The Jaguar and the Snake’, she draws inspiration from oral and visual traditions in the ‘Amerindian’ culture. What relationship was there between animals, plants and humans? Piña discovered that ancient American culture was often well ahead of the current ideas about humans, materials and identity. She wants to share this ancestral knowledge with you. Through dance, music and image. With body, heart and soul.
