The ingenious architecture, dancing rhythm and timeless beauty of Bach’s Cello Suites continue to appeal to a wide audience. In her new choreography for three male and two female dancers, including De Keersmaeker herself, music and dance seek out the individual essence of each of the suites, but also unveil the interplay between them. In addition, the timeless Bach is joined by the contemporary Hungarian composer György Kurtág.
This new dance performance brings together two giants of the worlds of dance and chamber music. It is no coincidence that they have been welcome guests at deSingel for many years! Our collaboration with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker dates back to 1983: it has been possible to watch and marvel at virtually her entire oeuvre here. Jean-Guihen Queyras has been one of our favourite cellists since 2001. This season, he features on our musical programme no fewer than five times!
