1h 20' The musical score is the key which unlocks the unfolding shape of the dance, a key of notes. That just about sums up the basic formula of the oeuvre of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. The dancers surrender themselves to the music, its structure and rhythm, sound and expression - without being enslaved. On the contrary, they come up with a resolution, something gloriously beyond mere notation. For the performance the influential album 'Bitches Brew / Tacoma Narrows' (1970) by the trumpeter Miles Davis is the musical point of departure. This is a frenetic funk jazz LP, which gradually reveals itself to the listener. The confrontation with the intuitive musical technique of Miles Davis means a real challenge for Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. She is fascinated by structures, but always allows extra space for inspirational impulses, which may turn her dance into uncharted waters. 'Tacoma Narrows', the second part of the album, refers to a bridge in Washington State, which collapsed in 1940 due to a construction fault. The vibrations of the suspending bridge in the wind, which finally caused its demise, are the leitmotif of the performance.
