duration
2h 20' ‘The Passage of Time’: these are the first words in the song ‘Golden Hours’ on the album ‘Another Green World’ (1975) by the pop icon and master of ambient, Brian Eno. They connect well with the recent work by choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, in which she explores our notion of time. She is taking to the next stage the choreographic principles she has developed over the years and recently refined in ‘Vortex Temporum’. The dancers themselves deconstruct and reconstruct Brian Eno’s songs.
In her early work, and later on also in ‘The Song’, she combined movement patterns with pop music. About the latter work we wrote in 2009: "The body is still at the centre of this whirlwind of change. As a sounding board in a chaotic, transforming world. As proof of what is still possible." Art as a wonder and questioning of reality interacts with art as entertainment. On her relationship with pop music Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker says: "For me, Pop represents our most mundane relationship with music. It is a part of our collective memory, and a fusion of music, theatre, dance and literature."
