1h 10' Although Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker always seeks out the relationship between dance and other disciplines, music is still her master. In the 2001 piece ‘Rain’, Steve Reich's ‘Music for Eighteen Musicians’ provides the basis for her choreography. Reich wrote this score for four female voices, four pianos, two clarinets, viola and cello and a large group of percussionists. The performance is highly distilled: the minimalism and the dynamism of the music enter into dialogue with geometric figures and rhythmic, energetic movement principles. What emerges is a dance of repetition and variation on predetermined patterns.
‘Rain’ is not to be missed. This dance performance is a key work that embodies the style of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Rosas.
