With Rosas danst Rosas, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker achieved an international breakthrough in 1983 with her fledgling company. For De Keersmaeker, this performance was ‘a radiant celebration of our womanhood.’
Eleven chairs, four dancers enthusiastically repeating themselves to the point of exhaustion, set to the maximalist cadence of Thierry De Mey and Peter Vermeersch. The minimalism De Keersmaeker introduced earlier in Fase became a defining signature in Rosas danst Rosas.
More than 40 years after its premiere, the tally stands at over 500 performances, delivered by 28 dancers across five generations. For this revival, De Keersmaeker passes the torch to an entirely new cast. Ready to lose themselves in unison in this legendary choreography.
