Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker & Rosas
The Dark Red Research Project
In collaboration with deSingel and M HKA, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker is creating ‘The Dark Red Research Project’, a work in progress in the museum. The dancers start out from the most basic movement of the human body: breathing. With its unusual breathing techniques, the twelve-part ‘Opera per flauto’ by the Italian composer Salvatore Sciarrino acts as the starting point from which to link the movement of dance and music together. Ictus flautists Chryssi Dimitriou and Michael Schmid use this musical palette to encourage the dancers to move in the wake of their breathing. The dancers respond with a silent concert that plays out in the space. The result is an in-situ choreographic experiment in which you’ll gain a unique insight into Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s work process.
