The investigation into the relationship between dance and music is a constant theme in the work of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Fifteen years after 'Toccata' (1993), the music of Johann Sebastian Bach is once again on the menu. In close collaboration with Alain Franco, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker confronts the work of this eighteenth-century composer with the twentieth-century musical oeuvre of, amongst others, Anton Webern. The challenge is to give shape to the ideas which the music of the two composers evokes. And, in so doing, not so much try to translate the musical styles into movement but rather the ideas that the styles generate, in an attempt to illuminate the time-span between Bach/Webern and today. Webern as a reflection upon Bach and vice versa. Zeitung will premiere in 2008. Alain Franco accompanies the dancers live on the piano.
