1h 30' In 'Desh (het tweede deel van de nacht)' ('the second part of the night'), a warm orange choreography for three dancers including Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker herself, the choreographer uses meditative raga music from the North of India. The young Spanish choreographer and dancer Salva Sanchis was invited by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker to create a part of the choreography. His introverted style provides a surprising counterbalance to the extraverted, centrifugal dance in the female parts. This contrast is further expressed in the solo by Sanchis to 'India', a 1961 composition, inspired by Indian music, by the jazz legend John Coltrane. The three dancers play with shifts of balance, bend their knees, balance on their toes and heels, sit, lie and roll. The result is a rare gem of consummate dance technique, with flowing, melodious movements and accents rich in contrast.
