Artiste Associé - Daniel Linehan
The Karaoke Dialogues
Imagine Kafka going to a karaoke bar and performing a dialogue with Plato, who at the same time is reading work by Cervantes. Welcome to the world of our Artiste Associé Daniel Linehan!
In ‘The Karaoke Dialogues’, he applies the principles of karaoke to the great literary and philosophical classics. The writings, which are all linked to laws and crimes, are taken from various sources and are put together as if they told the story of a single court case. By using the dialogues as the basis for choreography, the seven dancers magnify the character of the writing. The words define the rhythm of the dance. A compelling tragi-comedy arises out of this cross between an individual approach to the textual score and the dynamics of the collective choreography. And this is the first production for the large stage by this exceptionally talented man.
