Aydin Teker
aKabi
The choreographer Aydin Teker is no longer an unknown in Europe. Her ensemble work is now being performed for the first time in Belgium. She took her first professional steps as a dancer in the Ballet of the State Opera in Ankara. She then pursued her studies as a dance teacher in London and New York. Currently, she teaches contemporary dance at the Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul. In 'aKabi', four dancers move around the stage in enormous platform shoes of varying heights and shapes. With each new pair of shoes the bodies undergo a transformation and, in so doing, trace the limits of their material presence.
