1h 20' Boris Charmatz has been called the 'Wunderkind' of contemporary French dance. He studied at the Paris Opera's prestigious 'École de danse' and then at the 'Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse' in Lyon. He very quickly became unsettled with what he was being taught and began to question it. This earned him the title 'the philosopher of dance'. But he carried on dancing! He is indisputably a dancer with an aura and an effervescent personality. In 'Quintette Cercle' in 2006, he created a group choreography with nods to the repertoire and style of, amongst others, Merce Cunningham. In anticipation of a new work, to be performed for the first time on our large stage, we present this powerful ensemble piece as an introduction in combination with an exclusive: the first public performance of recent work filmed in black and white, 'Une lente introduction' (A slow introduction).
