1h Botis Seva performs a powerful solo between hip-hop, physical theatre and dance.
In Sing Child Sing, his first solo performance, British choreographer Botis Seva explores how we carry the past within our bodies and what it takes to loosen its hold. Rooted in autobiographical experience, he traces how abandonment, faith, and frustration become physically embedded, surfacing in gestures of resilience, tension, and release.
Seva, an Olivier Award winner, has developed a distinctive language at the crossroads of hip-hop, physical theatre, and contemporary dance. Audiences at DE SINGEL previously saw this during Until We Sleep, performed in 2024 in the Red Hall. With his hip-hop dance theatre company Far From The Norm, he creates work rooted in personal experiences and the stories of the communities in which he grew up.
In Sing Child Sing, Seva shows how pain, detachment, frustration, but also trust, settle into the body. These traces resurface as both wounds and anchors, because the way forward is unpredictable. It is precisely this that makes the performance a moving and courageous portrait of transformation.
