50' What can science offer art? This is a central question many contemporary artists are asking themselves. This is also true of the French choreographer Brice Leroux. Inspired by insights gained from quantum mechanics, he shows us that we can never be certain of what we see. He constantly plays with perception. By focusing on parts of the body, he analyses man and space in a way that takes us by surprise. His performances in semidarkness are like a rhythmic, almost obsessive ritual. His subtle language of movement is based on a minimum of means and is characterised by virtuosity, repetition and mathematical precision. In deSingel he presents both a group piece and a solo. Quintet is a choreographic work for five dancers, or rather, for ten arms. In fact Brice Leroux focuses on this part of the body.
