Christian Rizzo - L'Association Fragile
L'Oubli, toucher du bois
In Christian Rizzo's productions light and music invariably play an important role and the set design is the foundation on which everything is based. Nevertheless, each new creation by this Jack-of-all-trades opens up a new world. His curiosity, eagerness and questing spirit always ensure that he never uses the same artistic recipe. In 'L'oubli, toucher du bois' his ingenious lighting creates an incredible tension. The musical score by Sylvain Chauveau generates an atmosphere of gentle nostalgia. It is as if you found yourself in a waking dream filled with strange scenes. Seven dancers mourn the disappearance of their beloved friend. Love and death are recurring themes in Christian Rizzo's work, which will be presented throughout the season in 'Artiste Associé' at deSingel. The basis of his work is the realisation that everything disappears, but that something new always follows. Christian Rizzo: 'In our society we are taught to believe that all is eternal. I believe the opposite is true. Everything is on the point of vanishing. The only way to preserve and remember things is through rituals.
