1h Nacera Belaza was born in Algeria and moved to France at the age of five. There she studied literature before immersing herself in dance and choreography. In her work, music, light and the bodies of the dancers merge until they eventually fade and are extinguished. For ‘Le Cercle’, a creation for six dancers made in deSingel, Nacera Belaza starts from a short eponymous choreography that she created in 2012 as part of a bigger project ‘Le Trait’. Now she is exploring in greater depth how the bodies of her dancers can be containers for multiple sounds and thus fall into a trance. Following her residency at our Theatre Studio in January 2018, we know for certain: this is highly promising work!
