Reportable portraits
The inseparable German duo Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke call themselves 'artistic twins'. In the last five years, they have been creating performances which have mainly involved the two of them together on stage. Central themes included sexuality, identity and gender roles. Now they are concentrating on group work. What can you expect from their new creation? Motion, reflection and a touch of melancholy. For 'reportable portraits', which will premiere in September 2007, they work in close collaboration with the stage designer Herman Sorgeloos and composer Hubert Machnik. It is a work for five dancers and its starting point is the self-portrait. All the participants in the creative process write down thoughts and remembrances in a communal notebook. Those notes gradually function as a sort of shared DNA for the performance.
