In the dance performance ‘Story Water’, the 12 dancers of Emanuel Gat Dance enter into dialogue with three contemporary music scores, performed by the Ensemble Modern, conducted by Franck Ollu: ‘Dérive II’ by Pierre Boulez, ‘Fury II’ by Rebecca Saunders, and FolkDance by Emanuel Gat. The underlying idea behind this creation for the Cour d’Honneur at the Festival d’Avignon 2018, in co-production with deSingel, is the conviction that a choreography is more a question of interaction than of movement. With ‘Story Water’, choreographer Emmanuel Gat invites you to let your gaze roam freely around the space where music and dance encounter one another, like when you wander around a garden.
