The Porcelain Project
Grace Ellen Barkey was involved in the foundation of Needcompany right from the start. With the company's support she created 'The Porcelain Project'. In this sparkling, light dance production the overall image of the stage plays a crucial role. It was created by the stage and costume designer Lot Lemm. Her porcelain objects and installations come to life through the interaction with the performers. Together with Grace Ellen Barkey and the Needcompany dancers/performers she lures you into a world full of fantasy where only the logic of poetry is important. Bodies, images and objects, contours and lines combine to form a luminous and playful whole, compiled according to ever-surprising paths of association. The fantasy world in 'The Porcelain Project' is not just a utopian place, but a place for the other in ourselves, free of any cultural pessimism. Here the makers use their imagination to encourage constant change in the here and now. It is a place where there is the hope that another world is possible.
