Jan Martens - Grip

In just a few short years, Jan Martens has moved from being a fresh young face to an audience darling and one of our Creative Associates. He is presenting an ode to human imperfection in which he enjoys exploring a range of movement idioms and ventures into areas that are at once raw, poetic and mathematical. It is therefore no surprise that for this new creation he is working with the drummer and electronics musician Michael Kuhn. Under the name NAH, Kuhn performs as a one-man-band, presenting music with traces of punk, hip hop, jazz and noise. His work combines uninhibited brutality with an earthy structure, a style in which Martens is firmly at home. With NAH’s live music as the driving force, in ‘RULE OF THREE’ he creates a trio whose structure draws inspiration from the concert and the short-story genre. Short scenes are interspersed with longer ones. Tranquillity rubs shoulders with explosion, and reason with emotion. We are already looking forward to it. You too?
