The famous Swedish Cullberg Ballet, founded in 1967 by Birgit Cullberg, is a guest at deSingel with a double bill. In this way, audiences will be introduced to two young choreographers, Jefta van Dinther and Stina Nyberg, as well as the Canadian choreographer and artistic director of La La La Human Steps, Edouard Lock. Dancer and choreographer Jefta van Dinther completed his studies at the Amsterdam School of the Arts in 2003. In ‘Plateau Effect’, nine young dancers, driven by the imperative cadence of the music, battle the elements. The swirling waters and raging winds are given shape through a huge moving cloth that fills the entire stage. Will man win his dispute with nature? ‘Works’ consists of two completely different choreographic pieces created in October 2014. ‘11th Floor’ is choreographed by Edouard Lock to a new score by composer Gavin Bryars. It is a classic drama, inspired by the jazz and film noir of the fifties, with a focus on unstable relationships and suppressed tensions. In ‘Tones & Bones’ the young Swedish choreographer Stina Nyberg explores the relationship between sound and movement and moves onto the large stage.
