duration
1h 45' This is the fifth time that Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and her sister Jolente, both of them highly talented theatre-makers, have jointly created a Rosas production. The result of their collaboration is a penetrating reading of a Greek tragedy about a woman's tribulations. The script, an adaptation by Oscar van Woensel, tells of the war between the Trojans and the Greeks (here called 'Zorbas') from the perspective of Kassandra, the daughter of the Trojan king. Kassandra refuses to yield to the Greek god Apollo. In revenge, he grants her the gift of prophecy but with the curse that no-one will believe her. Kassandra becomes the powerless witness of a massacre created out of pride and love of lucre. The script is performed by the whole group of dancers, like a score divided between twelve voices, allowing all the aspects of the female protagonist to come to the fore.
