1h 30' Imprisoned Gods: Crossroads of ancient African traditions and modern dance expression.
In the dance performance Imprisoned Gods, Lukah Katangila explores the rich traditions and belief systems of ancient Alkebulan (present-day Africa), before the influence of Western colonisation. He honours the Weusi peoples, known for their deep connection to nature, medicine, and many deities, and examines the impact of Christianity on these cultures.
Four dancers, each with roots in the Goma area and specialists in their own traditional dance style, bring the essence of Alkebulan's cultural diversity to the stage. From the hunting-inspired movements of the Rega to the majestic Tembo, from the flowing Shi to the wild Hunde.
Imprisoned Gods is a celebration of cultural identity and hip-hop. Katangila bridges the gap between tradition and modern dance expression. You get a unique view of the power of faith and tradition through the lens of dance.
