1h Martin Zimmermann is a movement artist and was once a pupil of Josef Nadj. Dimitri de Perrot is a DJ and a composer. He gives 'scenic concerts'. Their first appearance in Belgium was in November 2000 when they were members of the Metzger/Zimmermann/dePerrot collective. The staging of their tragicomic productions Gopf and Hoi in deSingel were highly praised. Refreshing, acrobatic movement theatre on the divide between clowning and choreography and to the rhythm of scratch music. Today Martin Zimmermann and Dimitri de Perrot continue their research into the relationship between movement, music and stage design. For their new creation the Swiss duo were inspired by the writings of Georg Heym. The characters in the novels of this late nineteenth-century German writer have lost control over their own selves. They live on the fringes of society. Using a cardboard stage set, Martin Zimmermann and Dimitri de Perrot build a theatre within the theatre. A sort of fairground booth in which they themselves are the attraction. They show man as a puppet, a curiosity and an illusionist. Behind the scenes we see a second reality: the person behind the artist, his hidden side, his inner self. This is a story about the duality of man's character in a disposable setting; he is as transient and fragile as life itself.
