55' In-house artist Radouan Mriziga is inspired by the mythological tales of the Imazighen.
For in-house artist Radouan Mriziga, dance is not only an aesthetic experience, but also a way to share various types of knowledge with an audience. Knowledge of space, architecture, the connection between body and mind, or of stories that have been forgotten and repressed.
Atlas / The Mountain is the first part of a new trilogy in which Mriziga draws inspiration from the mythological stories of the Amazigh culture. In particular, the stories related to spirituality, art, philosophy, craft and science in the Atlas Mountains in North Africa. Mriziga explores the mountains as a romantic and political symbol, a refuge and a place that offers protection in times of war and oppression. With Atlas / The Mountain he creates a solo performance which taps into the manifold layers of meaning of this natural environment. Following his previous visit with Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, we now welcome Mriziga with this intriguing new work.
