Radouan Mriziga
Libya
Radouan Mriziga merges past, present and future with resilient movements.
For our in-house artist Radouan Mriziga, dance is always an encounter with the past. In Libya, a creation for nine dancers, Mriziga draws upon his Imazighen heritage. The influence of this culture on the blossoming of art and science in the Mediterranean and Europe is recognised neither historically nor culturally. Mriziga honours this knowledge through stories, poems, dance and objects in a stunning tapestry of artistic styles. Taking centre stage is the resilience of the oral culture that survived centuries of wars and colonisation. How can this history be passed on enduringly through the body, craftsmanship and oral forms of communication? In Libya, Radouan Mriziga opens up a space in which past, present and future coalesce.
