1h 10' Radouan Mriziga’s new desert-inspired choreography. Ritual, rhythm and reflection.
In-house artist Radouan Mriziga kicked off a new trilogy last season with his transcendent solo Atlas / The Mountain. In this second part, the Moroccan choreographer and dancer opts for a collective performance, structured as a polyphony of perspectives. In a world driven by human ambition and technology, he turns to mountains, deserts, and oceans - untamed spaces where human control ends.
Magec / The Desert explores vast, arid landscapes and reveals their wisdom. From the Sahara to the Thar and the steppes of Central Asia, deserts emerge as places of reflection that expose the smallness of humanity. In Mriziga’s choreography, the desert is not a void but a geography of wisdom, calling for humility and reciprocity rather than dominance. In a rhythmic interplay of crafts, music, text, movement, and sound, rooted in the knowledge and practices of desert cultures, Magec / The Desert invites you to pause and engage with the intelligence of nature, create space for reflection, and return to the elemental.
