duration
1h 5' In this performance for seven dancers and an actress, Salia Sanou, a choreographer and pioneer of African contemporary dance, tackles themes that are close to his heart: loneliness and being different, the individual and the collective. But pressing topical issues such as territory and borders, exile and uprooting are also addressed. ‘Du Désir d’horizons’ is based on dance workshops in refugee camps in Burundi and Burkina Faso. Yet this dance performance is not a testimony of or documentary about the precarious life in these camps. Salia Sanou’s choreography aims to be a reflection on the vulnerable situation of refugees and how this reverberates in every one of us. But ‘Du Désir d’horizons’ would not be a made-in-Africa production if it were not ultimately infused with hope. The performance shows the desire not to give up and the power of longing. The longing for multiple horizons.
