Sharon Eyal & Gai Behar & L-E-V

Sharon Eyal was born in Jerusalem and began her dance and choreography career at the Batsheva Dance Company under Ohad Naharin. In 2013 she set up her company L-E-V together with Gai Behar. ‘Love Chapter 2’ is a hypnotising ensemble piece for six dancers, supported by DJ Ori Lichtik’s soundscape. You see a choreography in cadence, executed by constantly tiptoeing dancers who flow into one another as a uniform, amorphous mass. You inevitably think of subservience, but also of aggression and frustration. Halfway through the piece, the beat is taken up by violins. A sober, slowly transforming light bathes the bodies in a sallow glow. You search in vain for the love to which the title alludes. A powerful, disconcerting dance performance.
