Apocrifu
This is a unique opportunity to (re)discover a work from Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s rich oeuvre! In ‘Apocrifu’ (2009) he is joined by the seven singers of the Corsican polyphonic vocal ensemble A Filetta. Their spiritual songs accompany an intense physical performance by three male dancers, including Cherkaoui himself. ‘Apocrifu’ questions the rationalism of Western thought, but also the denial of the body in the majority of religions. Cherkaoui juxtaposes the rhetoric with the language of the body. And contrasts the ‘great truths’ from the Talmud, Koran and Bible with a re-evaluation and upgrading of the apocryphal writings. “For me, art is not about the obsession with creating something new, but about evolution”, the choreographer explains. A must for fans of virtual dance and heavenly music.
