'Tempus Fugit' is a new large-scale production by the young choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, centred on the seemingly absolute nature of time. All over the world, people seem to use similar concepts of time, but the experience of time and its interpretation vary greatly between cultures. Led by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, fifteen performers from all corners of the globe explore their own cultural past. Each of them tries to capture time, translating it into a variety of dance rhythms and paces. 'Tempus Fugit' casts its gaze over the Mediterranean countries, the Arab world and Central Africa, and their mutual relations. Christine Leboutte and Damien Jalet perform songs from Albania, Corsica and Southern Italy; the Weshm ensemble performs Arabic songs from Morocco which are influenced by the cultures of the whole Mediterranean basin.
