Anna Kisselgoff of the New York Times once said 'Trisha Brown was postmodern before the word was even invented'. DeSingel has a long association with Trisha Brown.
The question now is what impact has she had on younger generations of dancers and choreographers? Find out the answer in the three-day event that focuses on this great lady of postmodern American dance.
Two evenings of popular repertoire including the European premiere of a new work set to music by Rameau and coproduced by deSingel. Followed by a whole Sunday of history and background in the form of films, installations from the seventies and a round of discussions in the presence of Trisha Brown herself. The choreographic work presented covers a period of four decades.
In 2005 we wrote: 'Throughout the many research stages of her work, a rare mixture of method and poetry, the core remains the same. It is always a voyage of discovery. A journey to the roots of the future.' This is what this project is about, looking back to the past and into the future.
