We all know them, the archetypal figures of Christianity: Adam, Eve, Joseph and Mary. In 'Light as a Feather, Green as an Apple', Veli Lehtovaara and Maria Ferreira Silva examine this Christian heritage. Lehtovaara, from Protestant Finland, and Silva, born in Catholic Portugal, constantly transform from one iconographic biblical character to another. Caravaggio's art, famous for its dramatic contrasts between light and dark, also serves as a source of inspiration for this choreographic collage. In a sometimes amusing way this duo blows the cobwebs from centuries-old images to expose their immortal emotionality. The result is a surprising, perceptive and intelligent performance.
