duration
1h 40' In a hybrid performance that contains dance, theatre and film, the choreographer William Forsythe reveals himself as an ingenious theatre maker, while the dancers of Ballet Frankfurt give a sample of their stunning talents as theatre performers. 'Kammer/Kammer' simultaneously deals with two homosexual love stories. In the first story, an adaptation of the novel 'Outline of my lover' by Douglas A. Martin, a young man, perfectly embodied by Anthony Rizzi, laments his unequal relationship with a rock star. In the second story, based on the text 'Irony is not enough: essay on my life as Catherine Deneuve' by Anne Carson, Catherine Deneuve, consummately impersonated by Dana Caspersen, is a university professor who gets entangled in romantic fantasies over one of her students. The action takes place behind moving walls, in compartmentalized spaces and is only partially or fleetingly visible, constantly recorded by a moving 'choreographed' camera. The real-time video sequences, often with an unaccustomed frame, are screened on a number of monitors, which are dispersed on stage and in the auditorium.
