A unique new piece from Forsythe and a poetic, radical live choreography by Mandafounis.
In a unique double bill, the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company led by Ioannis Mandafounis - a former dancer and heavily influenced by William Forsythe - brings two works together. Forsythe, a key figure in renewing classical ballet, continues his radical movement practice in a new creation. It is truly exceptional for Forsythe to make new work; a unique opportunity that you don’t want to miss. The piece marks a special meeting between the company’s current artistic vision and the origins from which it has evolved, building on Forsythe’s improvisation methods.
At the same time, Lisa van Ioannis Mandafounis introduces an experiment with 'live choreography', in which dancers spontaneously step onto or leave the stage, accompanied by the poetry of Osip Mandelshtam and music by Gabriel Fauré. This approach creates a stage full of unexpected moments, enhanced by historical costumes from the 1930s and texts in multiple languages, creating different narrative threads.
