1h 50' 'booty Looting': stealing the booty, plundering what has already been looted. For this production, which will premiere in June 2012, Wim Vandekeybus is working with six performers, a musician and photographer. 'A picture kills the present and freezes the past. Memories take root in these frozen moments and grow.' The restless, reckless body and its fast, instinctive movements have played a central role in Wim Vandekeybus' work since his debut in 1987. The ever-imaginative productions by this '100,000 volt' choreographer often take their inspiration from mythical figures and stories. His kaleidoscopic dance theatre always captivates both young and old. It has a unique sense of storytelling through the expressive power of the body, often in combination with text and image. Apart from film and video, music is an important and inherent part of his performances.
Having previously worked together with Elko Blijweert in 'nieuwzwart', 'Monkey Sandwich' and 'Oedipus / bêt noir', Vandekeybus asked this composer and musician to do the sound for 'booty Looting'. Danny Willems has long been responsible for the portraits and stage photos of Wim Vandekeybus' work. In 'booty Looting' this rock photographer goes one step further. He shoots his pictures live on stage.
