Postpolitical (co)incidences or how to knit your own private political body # 15
Kattrin Deufert and Thomas Plischke got to know each other in 2001 and since then have collaborated on several photographic, video, text and performance projects. Their main starting point is always the gender issue. They observe similarities in their appearance as man and woman. In this way they analyse the social strategies that lie behind stereotypical exteriors. In other words, how social pressure determines a particular image. Using widely differing media (Super-8 film, DVD, 35mm, photography, digital sound, etc.) they tackle such themes as incest, melancholy, homophobia, trauma and sex change. The first version of the performance in progress called Post political (co)incidences or how to knit your own private political body dates from May 2001. #15 was specially conceived for dedonderdagen to fit the deSingel building.
