A Touch of Noir / Shades of Jazz on Noir

Extracts from the classic film noir repertoire of the forties and fifties are the basic ingredients of 'A Touch of Noir / Shades of Jazz on Noir'. Fate, passion and angst were the film directors' parameters in their pioneering work on lighting techniques: claire-obscure with psychological expressionism and existentialism. 'A Touch of Noir' approaches film noir from the male perspective in the style of James Dean. 'Shades of Jazz on Noir' does this from the point of view of the femme fatale. Both approaches guarantee a fresh and unusual multimedia experiment. The passion, despair and melancholy of the film noir artefact are confronted with the dynamism and texture of contemporary, freely-improvised and non-idiomatic music. The musicians use a simple combination of adventurous music and humour. It's delicate, congenial, lyrical, light-hearted and playful; concentrated and to the point. But more often than not unpredictable!
